I’m in 2 places !!
I spend most of my time now at the new location in Stowe, VT
Tinker Lane Studios
I setting up new studio space and now running a small BnB in Stowe, Vermont. It’s a pretty awesome spot. The barn is great in the summer and in the winter I move it inside and utilize the 1877 Historic property and all its nooks and crannies to record in. In the future I hope to set up some House Shows or Barn Shows as the case may be, here in the heart of Lamoille County
Welcome to The Love Shack, Portland, ME
A Brief History
Back in 1983 in Portland Maine, musician/producer David Karl Roberts started recording with a portable 4 track, as a way to make recording more affordable and to produce local talent who were looking for quality demos of their work.
As digital technology became more available, Moonbeam Productions and The Love Shack evolved into a digital studio and uses various hardware and software solutions and any thing else we can lay our hands on, to make music. The setup is stripped down, portable and most importantly sounds good.
At The Love Shack our focus is on singer/songwriters, but we’ve recorded many bands over the years too.
For you Portland Music History buffs: DKR cut his teeth in the music biz by playing weekly gigs at the legendary Geno’s on Brown Street, with Psychedelic Folk Rock Alt-Country group The Legendary Crazy Moonbeam with its evolving cast of characters, and later morphed the band into the bands Love Cactus and The Killer Greens who toured relentlessly throughout New England and the East Coast at clubs, colleges, and festivals.
Portland and Love Shack’s DKR also worked in musical instrument sales/tech at renown local store Buckdancer’s Choice for 15 years while collecting the gear which makes this all possible. Guitars, amps, keyboards, orchestral instruments, percussion… musical instruments and gear are an addiction.
The Portland performance venueTree Cafe, used DKR as a media and promotions coordinator, working with national and regional acts. where he developed a skill of booking gigs and also toured constantly as a singer/songwriter as a solo artist and with his bands. He also brought some of the first outdoor shows to The Maine State Pier as part of a free weekend summer music series, The Whale Wall Market, by partnering with Raoul’s Roadside Attraction founder Russell Turner and Joe DeGeorge and cultivated local talent whenever and wherever possible.
Today, he focuses on songwriting and spends his days focused on studio time and even still does a few live performance showcases once in awhile – maybe sometime near you?
Love Shack Records
Over the years, recordings and releases have occurred under various project and band names, so we finally thought, just stick with a name already….Love Shack Records
Love Shack is looking to assist local talent in their sonic development.
