General Information
APRIL 1-SEPTEMBER 30: FRESHWATER SEASON
BROOK TROUT: Early season favorites. They bite the best April-June and again in Late August -September.
BROWN TROUT: Bushwacking the Maine woods or abundant in many lakes and ponds due to the states stocking program. Surface feeders at dusk.
TOGUE ( Lake Trout ): Deep rigging in the early morning on Sebago Lake or on other great Maine Lakes.
LANDLOCKED SALMON: MAINE'S FAVORITE !!
Salmon have long been Maine's prize freshwater sportfish.
Find out the hidden hotspots. Surface trolling, deep rigging or FLYFISHING.
SMALLMOUTH AND LARGEMOUTH BASS:
Abundant in lakes and ponds throughout Maine.
PICKEREL: A great fight.
YELLOW or WHITE PERCH, WHITEFISH,
SMELT, SUNFISH and OTHER SPECIES:
Always great fun for the kids.
SURFCASTING ADVENTURES :
STRIPED BASS:
New Striped Bass Rules : April 1 -Dec 31 . Hook and Line only-no gaffs limit one fish- between 20-26 inches or 40 inches or longer. Exception: Kennebec River, Sheepscot River and Androscoggin Rivers May 1-Dec 31 catch and release until June 30.
BLUEFISH: Mid to late summer they hit hard. You ain't seen nothing til you hit a school of blues. They are truely the pit bull of the fish world. New limit 3 fish
MACKEREL: Pier and breakwater favorites.
MENHADEN, SHAD, SKATES, HALIBUT, COD & other species are also occaisionally taken.
